The phrase “family dentistry” is one we hear quite often, usually in reference to a dental practice which treats patients of all ages. Klemes Dental Associates in Naples, Florida does all that and more, expanding the meaning of “family dentistry” to unexpected and inspiring proportions in the process.

The first layer of family you’ll encounter at Klemes Dental Associates is the father and daughter team who own and run this unique family practice.

John C. Klemes, D.M.D., M.A.G.D. was born and raised in Wethersfield, Connecticut. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Connecticut, John pursued a dental degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Not stopping there, he went on to achieve the highest Academy of General Dentistry honor – the Mastership (MAGD). The MAGD reflects a general dentist’s ongoing commitment to provide quality care through continuing education. Prior to his arrival in Naples, Dr. Klemes maintained an active dental practice in Connecticut. Driven to share some of what he’s learned along the way, Dr. Klemes has lectured on implant dentistry and engaged in clinical teaching at the residency program at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Klemes is the past president for the Connecticut Academy of General Dentistry and he has been on the active staff and has supervised the dental residents at Hartford Hospital.

Dr. Klemes’ daughter is Lisa M. Klemes, D.M.D., F.A.G.C.D. Early exposure to the dental profession led her to follow in her father’s footsteps and pursue a career in the family trade. Dr. Lisa M. Klemes obtained her undergraduate degree at Trinity College and received her dental degree from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. She has received her Fellow from the Academy of General Dentistry for her many hours of continued education in dentistry. She, too, has been a clinical instructor at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and on the staff at Hartford Hospital.

Both, father and daughter, have also attended the Pankey Institute. Pankey-trained dentists are taught how to treat their patients as individuals, how to do complete examinations, how to take enough time to listen and answer questions fully, and how to create a practice that reflects their own personal values.

The Drs. Klemes are also active member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the West Coast Dental Association, and the Collier County Dental Association.

They have taken trips to Guatemala, Bosnia, and Mexico to help orphans and others without access to acceptable and affordable health care. Dr. John C. Klemes has received the Humanitarian award from the Salvation Army and he received the 1998 American Dental Association Certificate of Recognition for his volunteer service. Dr. Lisa M. Klemes has received the 1999 American Dental Association Certificate of Recognition for her volunteer service.
