The recently renovated Traditions Restaurant is one of the few Gulf-front dining options available on Sanibel or Captiva. Although you’d never expect it, many of our Southwest Florida barrier island restaurants are not blessed with an ocean view. Traditions has the added bonus of being located within the historic Island Inn compound, a landmark beach resort dating back over 115 years.
Traditions Restaurant is the perfect setting for Sanibel-casual foodies to enjoy laid back fine dining provided by an attentive and knowledgeable service staff. Esteemed Sanibel restaurateur, Andrea Muccigo, the previous proprietor of Island favorites Dolce Vita, Riviera and Bellini’s, is at the helm -- confidently guiding this restaurant towards success with the legendary hospitality his name has long been synonymous with. Take my advice and visit Traditions now, while it’s still somewhat of a local secret shared via word of mouth.
This is the type of restaurant where magic happens. The first impression is one of bright colors and beach-friendly decor in the open and airy dining room. A glass of wine and good company, along with layers of complementary flavors and convivial repartee with the floor staff, transforms the evening into a series of hazy pleasant moments illuminated by the setting sun reflecting off gentle Gulf of Mexico waves.
The diverse menu at Traditions Restaurant encompasses American, Caribbean, Italian and Mediterranean cuisines -- so there is truly something for everyone, whether you’re looking for a light pasta dish, fresh local seafood or elegantly prepared meats and chops. Maine Lobster Ravioli. Wild Black Grouper Livorno. Oven Crisp Duck Au Figs. Moroccan Spiced Lamb Chops. Entrecote Au Poivre. Hazelnut Crusted Tuna Steak.
Traditions tempting dessert menu guarantees a decadent finish to your memorable meal. Valhrona Chocolate lava. Cappuccino Truffle Bombe Glace. Amaretto Caramel Flan Brulee.
Call ahead for details on the regularly scheduled live entertainment, they’ve got soothing solo piano to full band action. By the time you’re done with dinner, the music and dancing are usually in full swing...or slip away into the night with your special other for a romantic moonlit walk on the most beautiful shoreline anywhere...just steps from the front door of Traditions on the Beach.
